Universal remote controller

Very cheap "MAXY 1708" universal remote controller bought in 2003.

Devices can be assigned to 6 programmable buttons (TV1, TV2, VCR, etc.).

Main issue: high current draw when idle (45uA) that may lead to premature cells depletion and leakage (for comparison: Sony RM883 consumes only 0.05uA).
